Byers Choice

Christmas decorations have been taken out of storage now that my wreath business has subsided. For those of you who have ordered this year, I thank you for keeping me in business!

People ask me which caroler is my favorite - to answer that question - the first one! My very first Byers Choice caroler was from my twin sister of a siamese cat. Each caroler has its own individual expression and each one has its own meaning to me. Here are just a few to take a look at. To view them in person is much more appealing than this picture - you can feel their spirit by standing and looking at them.

This is what is going on in Brewer. Cianbro has come in now and started the clearing for their new facility. This facility will employ lots of people. That is a good thing!!!

Birthday Man

Just wanted to share a picture of Daniel and David on Daniel's birthday. Good Times - It was great to have him come home for his birthday. He's definately grown to be a wonderful young man! We love ya!

Good Tunes

I just wanted to share with you all my experience the other night. Dave and I were downstairs clipping tips and putting wreaths together and Dylan had just returned with his friend Joel here at the house. We usually listen to the radio while putting these wreaths together - but this night we listenend to some really good tunes. Dylan and Joel came downstairs to join us and Joel pulls up a chair with his guitar and starts playing these random tunes - and he's sitting behind me a bit and Dylan on the other side sitting on the woodpile encouraging him and suggesting different songs they have done in the past . So I'm thinking "what could be better than this - real music - the scent of balsam tips - and good times with your friends and family! I guess what I was thinking at the time was good times like this are the memories that will stay with you. It was just awesome - Joel is only 15 but you never know what will become of him.

Fall Robins

Before the snow flurries arrived this afternoon - this Robin is getting all the crabapples it can! My lawn was covered with Robins - I'm sure they will be back to fatten up for winter. Then the snow arrived - but the Robins didn't go far!

I was driving home the other day and noticed how beautiful the sky was for November - so of course I pulled over and snapped a shot - I don't go far without my camera :)

Halloween Visitors

We had a total of 7 visitors in costume! (3) were children and the other (4) were adults!!!! I know the adults had just as much fun as the children!

Fall Beauty

Every fall we wait for my moms tree to change into a brilliant orange! When you go into the house you will definately know when it has changed color because the once white walls appear with an orange glow! It's a beautiful orange maple.. Just thought I'd share that with you!

Applesauce Preparation Experiment

Dan and Twila thought they would surprise me with an apple peeler/corer this past weekend! I had never used one and always wondered if it would be alot easier and quicker verses peeling by hand to make applesauce. I've always peeled apple after apple after apple!! To sum it up, an apple corer is alot easier if the apples are crisp! Dan and Twila were the operators and I was the kettle manager of ingredients!!! Thank you Dan and Twila - The applesauce tastes great!

Apple Picking

Last week Dave and I went to pick some apples - it was a beautiful day - sunny and warm. It was half price day to our surprise - so needless to say we came home with plenty of apples - I've made a few pies already and apple crisp of course and also plan on making some applesauce to enjoy this winter. We did have some visitors while we were at the orchard -

Of course I also took advantage of the scenery at the orchard and i thought it was

really "country" beautiful.

Prayers

Today - Katie - my nephew's wife - had asked for Extra Prayers and Positive Thoughts for her brother Dennis. Even though we don't know Dennis personally, I would like to help Katie and her family by asking everyone who knows me and reads this today and the days ahead to just take a minute or two out of your day and say a little word to God for Dennis' Continuing Strength through this difficult time for him and his family. I thank you!

I just wanted to share this loon with everyone - Isn't he grand! We watched him at Toddy Pond this summer. We wondered if the loons have left the lake yet. Usually they gather in a circle and fly off - like they are having a meeting before they depart! You will need to click on it to get the full appreciation.......

Friends Helping Friends

This past weekend Dylan, Dave and I packed up and went to our good friends house -(Tony and Cheryl Dinardo) and tore the roof apart. It was in "great" need to get this done!!!! So we had previously picked a date and kept to it. All the materials were purchased and lunches and dinner menus were complete - we just waited for the crew! We really got to know Tony's brother-in-law Timmy alot better and neighbor Andy by the end of the weekend. They too are good friends. Timmy always had a joke or something up his sleeve! While the guys were on the roof top - we were suppose to go back to home depot for some more materials - we eventually got there after us girls had been to a couple of furniture stores - shopping for a couch set for me - - we did make it to home depot and came back with 20 more sheets of plywood that we handled ourselves a few times! Home Depot has plenty of employees but none to mention with customer service skills!!! Geez - So thanks to a team effort the project is complete!

Sister Gathering 2007

Every year our sisters have agreed to take the time and gather and share laughs and stories and talk about what's new in each and every sisters lives and we always try to plan a little getaway. Last year was the beginning of the sister gatherings -

This year we went to my sister Karen's house who lives in Hudson. Each sister came with their own family. There were a few family members that were not present and boy it would have been great to have those with us that live away! What a wonderful day - We all had a great time. Thank you Kim for making the drive up this way. Thank you Karen for a wonderful day and hosting the second "Sister Gathering" Looking forward to the next in 2008! Love You Guys

Labor Day Weekend

What a "Great" Labor Day Weekend with family and friends! We had wonderful weather - couldn't ask for better and great lobsters - thanks to Dave - and the drinks were pretty good too! but most of all the company we had! We had a total of 19 people and that was a "quiet" Labor Day celebration! One of these Labor Day celebrations we might have the whole family - now that would be awesome!
